Tiger Eyes: The Book That Had My Eyes Watering

Tiger Eyes: The Book That Had My Eyes Watering

Intro

What's up, welcome back to the Teenage Dream Book Blog!!! I know it's been quite a while but I will TRY to be better at posting again (trust). Anyway, I'm going to be reviewing the book Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume. This has to be one of the saddest books I've ever read, I'm serious. I'm not the type of person try cry because of a movie or especially a book, but in this case is, this book is the exception. So let's take a look.

Plot

This book is all about a 15 year old girl named Davey who had a pretty good life with her Mom, little brother and her dad, whom she had a great relationship with. That was until one night Davey's father got killed while working at his 7-11. Davey was shook and traumatized by this moment. After the funeral Davey's mom decides to stay with her sister in law and her husband in New Mexico and takes Davey and Davey's little brother with her. Davey isn't too thrilled about this. In the book Davey learns to grow and become a better person. She learns how to deal with her grief in a healthy way. Finally, she learns how grow from this and move on with her life.

My Opinion

This has to be one of my absolute favorite books of all time. Sure, did it have it's flaws, of course, every book does. The way the characters are written in this book, especially Davey, are just so realistic and down to earth. I could relate to Davey's personal struggles of loss and grief in a way that I haven't in any other book or movie character. I will give this book a 9.5/10. The only reason why it's not a 10 is because some of the characters could get on my nerves so badly it made me want to jump into the book and punch them (I'm looking at you uncle Walter). But maybe that was the point, idk. All I know is that you should definitely read this book.

Movie Adaptation

In 2012, 31 years after the book got published in 1981, a movie adaptation
of the book was released. From what I've seen, the movie follows the book quite well, but I haven't seen the full movie so far. As of right now you can watch the movie on Roku for free with ads and on prime video.
